Albert Hernández began teaching at Iliff in September 2001. His primary teaching areas include the history of Christianity from the Hellenistic-Roman eras through the Middle Ages. His areas of interest include the history of Muslim and Christian relations beginning with the Crusades, thirteenth-century European life and thought, the problem of religious diversity in medieval and early modern Spain, historiography, and the role of mystical movements in Christian history. Dr. Hernández is a United Methodist layperson.

Dr. Hernández is currently the coordinator of Iliff’s Masters in Theological Studies Program. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Hispanic Theological Initiative, located at Princeton Theological Seminary.

Dr. Hernández is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Medieval Academy of America, the American Society of Church History, and the AsociaciÓn para la Educación TeolÓgica Hispana (AETH).
