Iliff on the Road: Leading Edge Conference, Prof. Miguel De La Torre, New York, NY
Description: Miguel De La Torre, professor of social ethics, is a keynote speaker at The Leading Edge Conference.
Americans are more polarized than ever, divided by irresponsible vitriol from all concerned parties, economic disparity, religious beliefs, racial tension, and gender injustice. And this polarization is global, affecting our entire human family. Now more than ever, people of faith are being called to enact the worship that God desires: to be repairers of the breach and restorers of the streets in which they live. Such a calling emboldens progressive religious people to name injustices when we see them, to demonstrate the inextricable connection of systems of oppression, and to call our congregations to active responsibility in doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God.
The goal for this Leading Edge Conference is to use all of our resources—theological reflection, intellectual analysis, passionate prophetic critique, celebrative, artistic worship, and community organizing—to rehearse the Reign of God and create a more just society. Our work must be rooted in our faith, sustained by worship, prayer, and Sabbath.
Come and join us to create a movement for a more just society—a society of prophets, poets, and everyday heroes who can articulate the just vision of God’s Peace and make the dream a reality.
