Iliff on the Road: PeaceJam Hero Awards Honoring Vincent Harding

Description: PeaceJam is an international education program build around leading Nobel Peace laureates who workpersonally with youth to pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody. The goal of PeaceJam is to inspire new generations of young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world. The PeaceJam Foundation is a Colorado 501© (3) non-profit organization with no political or religious affiliations.

2013 Hero Award Honorees

Cynda Collins Arsenault

Cynda Collins arsenault is a visionary as well as a pragmatist – a rare combination that has allowed her to accomplish so much. As an author, activist, and philanthropist, her activism and impact extend from her local community to outer space. With forty years of experience in non-profit work including peace and justice, prison, mental health, disability rights, and environmental issues, Cynda’s work and philanthropy are based on a global and long-term philosophy. She is a member of the Women’s Donor Network, Women Moving Millions, the Women’s Forum, and is Board Secretary of the Association for Community Living.

Dr. Vincent Harding

Dr. Vincent Harding is currently Professor Emeritus of Religion and Social Transformation at the Iliff School of Theology. Additionally, Dr. Harding is Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Veterans of Hope Project, founded in 1997 by Vincent Harding and his late wife, Rosemarie Freeney Harding. The Hardings began their work in Chicago in the late 1950s and moved to Atlanta, in 1961 to join with Martin Luther King, Jr. and others as reconcilers and nonviolent trainers in the Southern Freedom Movement. In ensuing years, the Hardings served as scholars, authors, advisors and encouragers for a wider variety of movements, organizations, and individuals working for compassionate social change in the United States and internationally.
