Iliff on the Road: Prof. Sophia Shafi, HIAA Symposium, New York
Description: Sophia Shafi, visiting assistant professor of Islami Studies, will present a paper, “The Origins and Uses of Mirror Mosaics in Palaces, Imamzadeh and Ziyarat Gah Moghadas” at The Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA) Third Biennial Symposium to be held in New York, October 2012.
“Looking Widely, Looking Closely,” to be held in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 18-20 October 2012. The symposium program features an opening address by Priscilla Soucek, John L. Loeb Professor in the History of Art, Institute of Fine Arts, New York University and eight thematic panels, and two receptions. The new galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be open late on Friday, 19 October.
