Description: The Progressive Christian Alliance of Colorado is hosting a very special event coming soon – Proclaiming a Courageous and Compassionate Christianity. Folk singer Carrie Newcomer will perform Friday, Oct. 5, followed by two conversations with theologian and scholar Marcus Borg and Newcomer, Oct. 6. This promises to be a memorable event!

Iliff on the Road: Muslim Voices in the Heartland, Prof. Sophia Shafi

Description: The Muslims in the Mountain West Project is pleased to announce “Muslim Voices in the Heartland”, a 3-day event featuring discussion panels with local, regional and national Muslim writers, journalists, scholars, and activists. This event is hosted by the Center for Media, Religion and Culture and the Center for Asian Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder.
While bringing together some of the leading scholars on Muslim modernites, including Megan Reif, Nader Hashemi, and Sophia Rose Shafi, this gathering is unique in combining scholarly presentations with the participation of local and national American Muslims to speak on their own experience. Panels include “On ‘Muslim Rage,’ Media and Politics,” “Life as a Muslim in the Mountain West,” and “Storytelling, Media & Muslims in America.” American Muslim artistic expressions will also be presented, including a poetry reading by award-winning spoken word artist Dominique Ashaheed, a conversation with playwright Wajahat Ali about his theatrical production The Domestic Crusaders, and a screening of the film Mooz-Lum followed by a discussion with Director Basir (Q) Qasim.

Iliff on the Road: Peace & Justice 2012 Conference, Boston

Description: Iliff will host a booth at the Peace & Justice 2012 Conference, Boston, in conjunction with the Tufts Initiative on Climate Change and Climate Justice. The conference is titled, “Anticipating Climate Disruption: Sustaining Justice, Greening Peace.” Visit with Iliff admissions staff and learn about Iliff degree programs specializing in peace and justice and social change.
The Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA) Conference will be held on the campus of Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts (Boston metro area), will be feature presentations from a wide range of disciplines, professions, and perspectives on the many complex issues now unfolding amidst disruptive climate change, which promises to be among the most significant social justice concerns in the 21st Century.
