Iliff on the Road: “Christianity from Reformation to Enlightenment,” with Prof. Ted Vial

Description: Ted Vial, associate professor of theology, will lead a 3-session, Sunday morning class on “Christianity from Reformation to Enlightenment” as a part of Trinity Academy, Trinity United Methodist Church, downtown Denver. The class will look at the Reformation and the Enlightenment and the ways they have changed what it means in the modern world to be Christian and to think about Christianity.

Iliff on the Road: “John Wesley’s Journals,” Prof. Debbie Creamer, Highland’s Ranch

Description: Interim Dean Debbie Creamer, associate professor for theological bibliography, leads a Sunday morning glimpse at “John Wesley’s Journals” as a part of the Pathways adult ministries program at St Andrew UMC (Highlands Ranch).
The St. Andrew Harmon library houses first edition copies of John Wesley’s journals and works, giving us a unique look into the thoughts, feelings and actions of the founder of Methodism. The session will look at Wesley’s life from the texts, explore how these journals came to be preserved, and look broadly at the role of primary and first-person sources such as letters and journals. The class will discuss why and how we might think about telling and preserving our own stories today.
