Ring Lake Ranch Session: "Has the Holy One Been Lost in Transmission?"
July 20, 2008 | 09:00 AM
Description: Join Dr. Pamela Eisenbaum, associate professor of Biblical studies and Christian origins, for “Has the Holy Been Lost in Transmission,” a week long seminar at Ring Lake Ranch (Dubois, Wyoming).
How the Bible was preserved, transcribed, translated, and interpreted presents just as many challenges to people of faith today as did 2,000, 1,000, or even 10 years ago. During this week, participants will reflect on specific varying translations and how they affect key sayings and stories of the Bible. With the assistance of online resources, including digital images of early biblical manuscripts, we can see graphically how the scriptures were historically transmitted and how our faith has sometimes been molded accordingly. Participants will also revisit tools to use to meditate on the richness of the scriptures.
This course is offered for continuing education credit through Ring Lake Ranch and The Iliff School of Theology.
