Ring Lake Ranch Session: "The Rocks Shall Cry Out"
July 27, 2008 | 09:00 AM
Description: Join Dr. George “Tink” Tinker for “The Rocks Shall Cry Out,” a week long seminar at Ring Lake Ranch (Dubois, Wyoming).
American Indian experience of the world around us as both alive and conscious makes euro-western anthropocentrism an impossibility. The Indian understanding of the personhood of rocks and trees and the kinship of life has important ethical consequences when it comes to waging war, cutting down a forest, or even eating lunch. These sessions will unpack some of the traditional worldview of Native Americans, setting that worldview in tension with the globalization of capital and its worldview.
This course is offered for continuing education credit through Ring Lake Ranch and The Iliff School of Theology.
