Description: Don’t miss this opportunity to join the Women’s Alliance for a lecture by Ann Brock, associate professor of New Testament and Christian origins. Brock’s topic “Mary Magdalene or the 12 Apostles: Who Got it Right?” takes us beyond what is written in the Bible. Discoveries of new manuscripts in the past century have given biblical scholars a whole new appreciation of the diversity within early Christianity and some of the important roles that various male and female leaders had at the inception of this religious movement. We will explore together the contributions of women, especially Mary Magdalene, and what extraordinary insights we can glean from the discoveries of texts that portray her prominence, but unfortunately, did not make it into the Bible.
