Film Screening: The Powerbroker, Denver Film Society
Description: The Veterans of Hope Project announces a free screening of “The Powerbroker: Whitney Young’s Fight for Civil Rights” at the Denver Film Society Center. The film features Whitney M. Young, Jr., one of the most celebrated and controversial leaders of the civil rights era. As executive director of the National Urban League, he took the struggle for equality directly to the powerful white elite, gaining allies in business and government, including three presidents.
The screening will be followed by a powerful discussion with Mr. Young’s daughter, Lauren Casteel, and Landri Taylor, President of the Denver Urban League. Seating is limited so be sure to RSVP and share with family and friends.
