Play: “Education of a Harvard Guy” Denverite John Perdew
A play, “Education of a Harvard Guy” with John Perdew will be performed at the Crossroads Theater in the Five Points neighborhood. John Perdew is a native Denverite who was actively involved in voter registration drives with Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in Albany and Americus GA in the 1960s. The play describes his three month stay in jail in Georgia as one of the “Americus Four,” charged with insurrection and facing the death penalty.
Also, on April 8-9, 7 p.m., Veterans of Hope Project will co-sponsor Radio Days (with Donnie L. Betts) a dramatization of Perdew’s play (details above). This will be a $25 fundraiser for The Veterans of Hope Project and The Spirituals Project at the Crossroads Theater. Professor Emeritus Dr. Vincent Harding will lead a discussion after the April 8-9 performances.
