Master of Divinity Degree (MDIV)
Iliff’s Master of Divinity (MDIV) degree is a progressive and comprehensive graduate program designed for those seeking careers in ministry, non—profits, and other religious leadership areas. As one of the most widely recognized degrees in theological studies, the MDIV degree is also the primary way to meet educational requirements for those seeking ordination in most traditions*.
Requiring 120 quarter credit hours across the theological curriculum and designed to be completed in three years, Iliff’s program includes either a part-time or full-time internship, and can be acquired in both a residential or flexible residency track.
By examining Christian traditions, contemporary circumstances in a global context, and other religious faiths, Iliff’s curriculum acknowledges ideological, ethnic and cultural diversities of Christianity. Students are encouraged through these courses to be self-conscious about their own moral environments, think critically about their assumptions, and develop theological frameworks for their participation in the processes of changing ideas, personal relationships, and social structures.
Divided into five thematic sequences, the curriculum explores the diverse dimensions of the following areas:
- Religions in a Changing World
- Bible, Canons, and Criticism
- Christianity and Cultures in Historical and Contemporary Perspectives
- Theology and Moral Practice
- Practical Theology, Social Analysis and Religious Leadership
Recently recognized as one of the top 20 theological schools engaged in multi-faith education, the Iliff School of Theology is located in Denver, Colorado – a dynamic and diverse city with a wide range of cultural, educational, recreational activities.
