5280 Knits is an inclusiveness project – a way of demonstrating care for our neighbors. Through April 17, 2013, Iliff is spearheading an effort to create and collect 5,280 handmade items (knit or crochet) for care-package delivery to women, men, teens and children living in poverty or areas of conflict all over the world. Representative of Denver, the Mile High City, the production goal of 5,280 items was chosen.
As a community partner, Iliff’s Diversities Program is sponsoring “5280 Knits 4 Peace” in collaboration with Susan McKee’s (MDIV ’09) Women4Women – Knitting4Peace. “5280 Knits 4 Peace” project continues to April 17, 2013. Together, we will generate awareness and create hand-crafted items (knitted, crocheted) for care packages that will be delivered to our own neighborhoods and around the world. 5280 Knits is a legacy project of The Colorado Ballet’s “Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project, which launched in January and runs through April 17. Visionary, The Light Project is bringing Coloradans together in a united front against indifference and prejudice.
Collaborating with women4women-knitting4peace, together, we will ensure that all donated items (caps, Peace Pals, scarfs, shawls and socks) are prepared and shipped to the people who most need them.
