20 Iliff Participants at San Francisco AAR and SBL Conferences
(DENVER) – More than 20 Iliff School of Theology faculty, student and alumni scholars were participants at the recent San Francisco conferences for the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) in November. The two professional organizations provide a platform for students to present their research to international peers, and academic scholars for reflection and discussion.
Faculty participating at the conference included: Miguel A. De La Torre, Vincent Harding (Emeritus Faculty), Jacob Kinnard, Theodore Vial, Deborah Creamer, Edward Antonio, and Jeffrey Mahan.
Iliff School of Theology/University of Denver Joint PhD program students participating were: Felicia George, Ben Sanders, David Scott, Jill Dierberg, Heike Peckruhn, Robyn Henderson-Espinoza who co-presented with Thelathia Young, Emory University, and Sara Rosenau, (Iliff alum, Drew University), Eu Kit Lim, and Kathleen Douglass.
Iliff students who presented papers at the SBL conference included: John W. Fadden, Kabamba Kiboko, Noah M. Marsh, J. Kabamba Kiboko, Deborah Niederer Saxon, Michael Hemenway, April Favara, Eric C. Smith, April Favara, Gil Rosenberg, and Amy L. Pfeister.
American Academy of Religion (AAR), a professional association of teachers and research scholars, has more than 10,000 members representing some 1,000 colleges, universities and seminaries who promote the understanding of religious traditions, issues, questions and values through continuing critical reflection. The Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) is the oldest and largest international learned society devoted to the critical investigation of the Bible from a variety of academic disciplines offering its members opportunities for mutual support, intellectual growth, and professional development.
