Charge from the Board to the Diversities Committee
At Iliff, we acknowledge that we are part of larger social systems that enact power in ways that privilege certain aspects of social identity over others. This can include identities linked to race, ethnicity, socio-economic background, religion, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation, and a variety of other identities with which individuals and groups claim or identify. Yet we choose to actively strive against such structures of power and privilege that threaten the well being of the community and devalue individual members.
The purpose of the Diversities Committee is to support the School’s commitment to modeling the values it embraces: diversity, mutual respect, accountability, honest communication, and critical self-reflection. The role of the Committee shall be to assess, investigate and offer: recommendations; to serve as a resource for the community; and to provide leadership particularly in regard to issues of power, privilege and diversity at Iliff.
