Correspondence with Abingdon Press and other publishers predominate. NOTE: Correspondence is also found in Series VIII, Methodist and Ecumenical Affairs, as filed by Williams. SERIES 2 : MANUSCRIPTS Boxes 2-3 Dates Contents Description 1935-1972 Arranged by type: books, articles, educational series, and miscellaneous. Arranged chronologically within these groups. Includes manuscripts of all of Williams' books published in English and his Ph.D. dissertation. Preliminary work and handwritten notes are included. SERIES 3 : BOOKS Boxes 2-3 Dates Contents Description NONE No arrangement. Removed to Archives book collection or regular library collection. Includes books by Williams. 14 volumes. SERIES 4 : PERIODICALS Boxes 2-3 Dates Contents Description 1934-1972 No arrangement. Removed to regular library collection. Includes reprints of articles by Williams. SERIES 5 :ILIFF Box 4 Dates Contents Description 1947-1972 Arranged by document type. Arranged chronologically within these groups. Includes papers generated by Williams as acting president, and minutes from faculty meetings and various committees. Included xerox copies, handwritten notes, and correspondence and accompanying papers mentioned in the minutes. SERIES 6 : STUDENT AFFAIRS Box 5 Dates Contents Description 1947-1969 Arranged by document type. Contains student bibliographies, exam forms, Division I exams, and related Division I papers. SERIES 7 : COURSEWORK Boxes 5-6 Dates Contents Description 1942-1973 Arranged by course number. Contains Williams' notes and preparation for various courses taught. Includes exam forms, bibliographies, and course outlines along with reprints, pamphlets, and periodicals pertaining to course subjects. SERIES 8 : METHODIST & ECUMENICAL AFFAIRS Box 6 Dates Contents Description 1944-1971 Arranged as found. Includes correspondence and papers generated in the course of Williams' involvement with various Methodist organizations and committees, along with literature from conferences and conventions. Ecumenical concerns predominate. SERIES 9 : SUBJECT FILES Boxes 7-9 Dates Contents Description 1930-1975 Arranged as found, alphabetically. These materials cover a wide variety of subjects, including associations and committees, publicity relating to publications, personal effects, and materials dealing with a broad range of theological and church topics. The materials include xerox copes, brochures, pamphlets, mimeographs, handwritten notes, correspondence (a limited amount), and newspaper clippings. SERIES 10 : LECTURE NOTES Box 9 Dates Contents Description 1928-1937 Arranged chronologically by course. Included are papers and handwritten notes, pamphlets, and periodicals pertaining to course subjects. SERIES 11 : MARY WILLIAMS' COURSE PAPERS Box 10 Dates Contents Description 1929-1931 Arranged chronologically by course. Included are papers and handwritten notes pertaining to course subjects. Also included are miscellaneous papers generated while the Williams' were at Garrett Theological Seminary. SERIES 12 : MISC. Box 10 Dates Contents Description 1928-1970 Arranged by type.
