Standing with Jeanette Vizguerra

Only the People Save the People
Rev. Anne Dunlap (MDiv ’08), United Church of Christ community minister for racial justice and solidarity, is standing with Jeanette Vizguerra, a mother of four who is facing impending deportation from the United States.
“I have been walking with Jeanette Vizguerra and her family since her fight against her deportation began. It is an honor, a privilege, and a gift to to walk with her, and to confront the system in this way.
We will not allow her to be taken, again. If Jeantte has taught us anything, it is the power of community to keep showing up and keep fighting. And she is still here. We will keeping fighting and we will keep showing up as long as it takes to keep her here with her children.
We will fight with Jeaneatte side-by-side with her leading the way. We will fight for Ingrid. We will fight for anybody who needs us to show up beside them as this system is unjust, it is inhuman, it is cruel, and it will fall.
Only the people save the people. We will fight until that day comes.”
