Writing Resources for the Iliff School of Theology community
Be sure to write on your appointment form where you would like to meet: in the library, by email, by video chat (please specify the program and username you would like to use), or by phone (please leave your preferred phone number). More on making appointments here.
Remember, email, video chat, and face-to-face appointments all require that you send whatever you would like to be read to the evening before your appointment time. We cannot guarantee we can read more than 10 double-spaced pages per week per student.
Feel free to email for more information about any of this. These appointments are for writing and writing questions. Research appointments are through the Iliff Research Center. If you would like help choosing, contact .
Make an appointment to have us read your work at any stage:
when you get the assignment, when you have a rough draft, or even a near-final draft.
Remember that is there to answer your questions.
Mission and Mechanics
The Iliff Writing Lab offers assistance to any member of the Iliff community who wants to brush up on writing skills or who would like a consultant to check a particular assignment at any point in the process. We can talk through a plan before you begin a project. We specialize in helping students who are new to the quirks of theological education or settling back into the world of academic writing. The sort of writing required for the graduate degrees Iliff offers is not quite like anything else; we can help you figure it out.
We are open to all parts of the Iliff community, such as students, staff, and instructors. The lab specializes in structure and grammar issues in specific assignments or projects. There is a 10 page (double-spaced, 12pt font) per week page limit. Please limit yourself to no more than two appointments per week. We would love to help you improve your writing, but this is not a copy-editing service.
Yes, you need an appointment if you want us to read your work. Appointments are available during the fall, winter, and spring academic terms. Writing questions are welcome at on our Iliff Bloomfire community, , or on the main floor of the Ira J. Taylor Library.
Iliff engages in a collaborative effort with students with disabilities to reasonably accommodate student needs. We encourage students to contact their assigned advisor to initiate the process of requesting accommodations. The advising center can be contacted by e-mail () or by phone (303) 765-1146.
