Can the Journey MDIV, MAPSC, and MASJE be completed fully online?

JOURNEY at Iliff offers the flexibility of completing much of your coursework online with some short trips to the campus in Denver, Colorado.

What is a hybrid class?

A hybrid class is a combination of online and on-campus learning. Each hybrid class requires eight hours of on-campus learning over a 1-2 day period.  See example schedule below.

How often do I need to come to Denver?

Generally around three times a year for 2-5 days each quarter to attend Gathering Days.

What are Gathering Days?

Gathering Days are when students enrolled in Iliff’s distance education programs travel to Denver to attend their courses. Gathering Days occur three times a year during 5th week of each quarter (October, February, April). It is a special time for the Iliff community to be together for academics and fellowship for meals, classes, social events, guest speakers, prayer and worship. By gathering on the beautiful Iliff campus, there are distinctive opportunities for meaningful, engaging, and transforming experiences.

How do I know if online learning is right for me?

You may be surprised that online learning at Iliff is engaging and relational. In general, students who succeed with online learning are comfortable using the internet, engage with social networking, manage email, establish time management skills for self-study, and are comfortable using new technology. Contact one of our Admissions Representatives to determine if this is the right program for you at admissions@iliff.edu

How do I know if the JOURNEY program meets my denomination’s residency requirements?

The JOURNEY program is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools as part of our comprehensive distance education offerings. For those who are United Methodist and seeking ordination as an Elder, the denomination allows two-thirds of the Master of Divinity degree online, with one-third required to be in residence (University Senate, January 27, 2011). There are a number of options available to fulfill the residency requirements set forth by the denomination.

We can help you with meeting your denomination’s requirements through a variety of course delivery options – online, hybrid, on-campus or weekend.

Can I attend part-time?

Yes. The program is flexible and you may enroll part-time or full-time.
