April 3, 2020

Dear Members of the Iliff community and particularly the Class of 2020:

I hope this message finds you well as you negotiate and manage the inevitable challenges from the Coronavirus pandemic.  My heart and prayers are always with you.

The Senior Leadership Team continues to monitor the Coronavirus with an eye to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, and the global community.  In an earlier communication, I shared that we were assessing the feasibility of holding an onsite commencement with a decision to be communicated no later than mid-April.  Developments now make it clear that we must honor our graduating class in an alternative way that assures safety and accessibility.

Iliff’s 2020 Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00 am (MDT) will be held as an entirely virtual celebration.  We will be maintaining many of Iliff’s traditions, and transforming or creating others.  It will be an enthusiastic celebration of the accomplishments of the class of 2020 and degrees will be formally awarded by declaration during the ceremony, as we always do.  Members of the class of 2020 will also be invited to celebrate a second time by walking and being hooded with the class of 2021 onsite June 3, 2021, if they choose to do so.

While we are all surrounded by uncertain times, we are particularly looking forward to celebrating the milestone accomplishments of the Class of 2020. We invite everyone to participate and attend, and will be following up with additional information soon. Please save the date if you haven’t already!

The graduating class will be making decisions about Senior Worship, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon June 3, 2020.  The 1/2 day retreat for graduates scheduled for June 2, 2020 will be offered virtually as scheduled.  Our Dean of the Chapel, Rev. Dr. Cathie Kelsey, will be working closely with members of the graduating class as she does so wonderfully each year.

Continued blessings.  Our thoughts are always with you…
