Dear beloved students,
You have received a note in regard to the Iliff (and DU) library access for print copies. I want to provide a word of clarification regarding it:
The library has made the decision to temporarily suspend access to print resources to honor Denver’s “stay at home” approach to dealing with the coronavirus. Toward that end, the “requests” mechanism in Primo has been shut down so that students cannot request books for pick up. This honors “stay at home” by limiting interaction between Iliff library staff and Iliff students, thus keeping everyone safe as possible.
An exception has been made for faculty for two reasons:
First, faculty, as Iliff employees, have access to the building and access to personal mail boxes within the building to pick up library materials dropped off by library staff. There will not be any personal interaction between faculty and library staff in this instance.
Second, in order to facilitate better online instruction, faculty need access to library print materials precisely so that they can scan relevant readings (within the confines of fair use copyright laws) and make them available to students online.
The library staff is aware that this may seem inequitable to students, but these measures are necessary to honor the “stay at home” policy while allowing faculty to provide course materials to students. Please do know that the faculty and the staff are doing our best to provide quality educational experiences to you including materials you need. Thanks for your understanding!
Please stay well and healthy! You continually remain in my thoughts and prayers.
