Together\, we’ll explore powerful stories of hope\, healing\, and action—each rooted in a shared vision of justice and liberation. \nRekindling Wisdom \nCelebrated Denver poet and visual artivist Helen Littlejohn invites us into an interactive evening of reflection\, creativity\, and discovery. Through guided writing and hands-on art-making\, participants will explore memory\, inherited wisdom\, and the stories that continue to shape us. Together\, we will stoke the artistic embers of our collective past\, not simply to remember what has been\, but to discover what wisdom might be rekindled for our futures. \nHelen Littlejohn is a visual artist\, poet\, and activist whose work invites us to see the beauty\, the ache\, and the possibility in our shared human story. Together\, we’ll explore powerful stories of hope\, healing\, and action—each rooted in a shared vision of justice and liberation. \nLife in Authoritarian and Autocratic Times: Lessons from the Book of Acts \nGovernment agents rounding people up on the streets. Prisons crowded with ethnic and racial minorities. Increasing political violence and violent rhetoric. Wealth concentrating in the hands of the few\, and public officials on the take. Politicians insisting that up is down and falsehood is truth. \nAround the world and in the United States\, autocratic and authoritarian governments are on the rise. We live in a time of surging nationalisms\, swelling xenophobia\, and attacks against cultural and academic institutions. The Book of Acts was written two thousand years ago in very different circumstances\, but it has something to say about the kind of world we are living in now. Acts describes the way governments deploy violence and prejudice to meet their aims. Acts follows its heroes into prisons\, where people like Paul and Peter and Silas languish in captivity for other people’s political purposes. We see mob actions\, economic protectionism\, and the twisting of history to suit the narratives of power. \nDrawing from two new books about power\, violence\, and the Book of Acts\, Dr/ Eric C. Smith\, Associate Professor of Early Christian Texts and Traditions at Iliff\, will offer lessons from Acts for life in authoritarian and autocratic regimes. We will notice the patterns and habits of power found in Acts\, and we will pay attention to how those same patterns show up in our own world. How does our faith inform what is real\, and who ultimately gets to decide our reality? About the film: Mr Jesus is a sharp\, satirical film about a down-on-his-luck actor who wakes up one morning to discover that his image has been stolen to make a GenAI Jesus\, and now everyone believes he’s the Second Coming. \nRev. Dr. Kristina Lizardy-Hajbi is associate dean of non-degree programs and associate professor of leadership and formation at Iliff School of Theology. She is a collaborator on the Mr Jesus film project\, helping to create a discussion guide for congregations and religious organizations to use in hosting screenings. Imagination not as escapism\, but as a rigorous practice for exposing power\, naming harm\, and cultivating more just\, livable futures. \nAttendees will take a systematic approach to developing emerging\, technological solutions by interrogating policies\, research\, narratives\, and outcomes.  \nStay tuned for updates on workshops\, featured speakers\, and programming. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				What is Critical Imagination?\nCritical imagination is a sociotechnical approach that asks researchers and designers to rigorously interrogate any domain and surface the social\, cultural\, ethical\, and political implications of technological choices. The inherent inquiry-based approach centers questions about how technological design and implementation shapes\, and is shaped by\, human systems and experiences.  \nThis approach combines critical analysis (i.e. history\, power\, values\, resources) with creative foresight (scenarios\, prototypes\, policies) and participatory methods (co?design\, stakeholder narratives). Through iterative cycles of imagination\, research\, prototyping\, and reflection\, we ask: Who benefits? Who is harmed or excluded? What social practices will this enable or disrupt? What unintended outcomes may occur?
