- Merit Scholarships (for entering students)
In addition to merit scholarships, Iliff also offers need-based financial aid in the form of institutional grants, federal loans and work-study.
Iliff believes that an educated clergy is both desirable and necessary to minister effectively to the needs of modern society. To help achieve this goal, we offer a wide range of financial aid options for students. Because we want to recognize academic excellence, Iliff offers several awards based on merit. We also offer awards based on financial need. In addition, Iliff participates in federally funded programs such as work study and government subsidized loans. While Iliff feels the primary responsibility for financing your education rests with you and/or your family, we are committed to assisting you in finding a variety of resources to help in that process.

For optimal consideration, applicants should apply for financial aid no later than April 15. Applications will be considered after April 15, as funds are available. Students who wish to be considered for need-based aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Student Employment
Student employment is a part of the Iliff School of Theology Office of Financial Aid. Student employment assists Iliff students with part time employment opportunities (work-study or non work-study) while they are enrolled in school. Employment allows students to gain valuable work experience and is a practical way to contribute to the cost of their education.
This employment listing is a free service Iliff provides. The list is located on Iliff's intranet and requires a login. It is updated on a weekly basis. Positions are generally listed for two months or until the job is filled, whichever comes first. If you find employment through this listing or if your church or organization is interested in posting a job, please notify Peggy Blocker in the Financial Aid Office at (303) 765-3114 or by email.
Iliff School of Theology makes no representations or guarantees about positions listed. Iliff acts only as a referral source and makes no specific recommendations about employers. The school is not responsible for safety, wages, working conditions, or other aspects of off-campus employment. It is the responsibility of the student to research the integrity of the organizations to which they are applying. Students are urged to use caution and common sense when applying for a job with any organization.
Financial Aid FAQs
Do I need to submit an additional application to be considered for the merit scholarships?
Only for the Presidentail Scholarships. Students are automatically considered for all other scholarships through the admission process.
Can I receive a merit scholarship and a grant at the same time?
Yes. Consideration for need-based grants is based on results of students completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Do my work-study earnings go to my student account?
No. Work-study earnings are paid directly to the student on a monthly basis.
How many hours can I work per week?
No more than twenty (20) hours per week while classes are in session.
Is work-study money taxable?
Work-study earnings are taxable income. Your total annual earnings, from all the jobs that you held over the course of the year, determine your refund eligibility. It is in your best interest that you file a tax return with the Internal Revenue by April 15 of each year. Work–study earnings are not used to determine your aid eligibility next year.
What happens when I reach my work-study award maximum?
Your department should notify you when you reach your award maximum. The department has the option of either continuing your assignment and paying you 100% from their departmental budget or ending your assignment altogether. Most departments will make every attempt to keep you working with them provided that you are a good employee and they have the budget funds to pay you.
Do you need my federal and state tax returns?
Iliff School of Theology requires federal tax returns only. This includes W-2’s, schedules, and all attachments. We do not require state returns.
Should I report my parent’s income information on the FAFSA?
Iliff requires only student income to determine eligibility for financial aid. Parental income is not required.
What is Iliff School of Theology’s Title IV School Code?
001354
I received a need-based institutional grant in my first year. Am I guaranteed the same amount of grant next year?
Each year students are required to submit a new financial aid application, financial plan, FAFSA and tax documents. Need-based institutional aid can change from one year to the next due to information provided and budget considerations.
How much does the program cost?
Tuition charges for students entering the 2007-2008 academic year can be found on the Tuition and Fees page.
What aid is available?
Most merit-based scholarships are given as a percentage of tuition. That percentage remains constant in most cases during the degree program. Consideration for need–based aid is determined by results from completion of the FAFSA, institutional financial aid application and financial plan.
How do I apply for federal need-based aid?
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) plus Iliff’s financial aid application and financial plan.
What about other sources of financial aid?
You should investigate all possibilities for financial assistance, including church scholarships and grants, denominational assistance, and community service agencies.
