PURPOSE & VISION

Iliff is a graduate school that cultivates compassion and justice through courageous imagination.

Iliffians are activists, leaders, and innovators in diverse religious, secular, and academic communities.

Iliff’s purpose and vision is lived out in degree offerings, initiatives, and labs serving specific users and their needs. These are articulated in the following purposes:

Degree and Initiative Purposes

Master of Divinity (MDiv)

The M.Div. is a three-year master’s degree that is designed to help people enhance and develop inclusive and justice-oriented ministries in the 21st century. It is the primary degree designed for people pursuing ordained and specialized ministries in congregational, chaplaincy, non-profit and other various contexts. They will engage a comprehensive range of ministerial responsibilities, skills, and capacities – intellectual and affective, individual and corporate, ecclesial and public – that inform and support a life of prophetic religious leadership.

Master of Arts in Pastoral and Spiritual Care (MAPSC)
The MAPSC is a two-year professional degree that is designed to help students be professional spiritual and pastoral caregivers in hospitals, congregations, and various secular and faith-based chaplaincy settings. The program equips students to provide professional spiritual care in a way that respects diversity and differences in race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices.
Master of Arts in Social Justice and Ethics (MASJE)
The MASJE is a two-year professional degree that helps people engage a complex interdisciplinary analysis of historical and contemporary social change strategies and movements. It is designed to help people who want to develop an inclusive, collaborative, and justice-based social change leadership with the cultural capacity and organizational skills necessary for domestic and international religious organizations, diverse non-profit settings, government agencies, educational institutions, the media, and various businesses and professional contexts.
Master of Theological Studies (MTS)
The MTS degree is a two-year interdisciplinary program that is designed for those who intend to pursue and prepare for a doctoral degree or for those who would like to increase their personal understanding or enhance an existing career path in variety of contexts such as educators in faith communities, professionals in government or nonprofit leadership, journalists, writers, and researchers, scholar-activists in a variety of communities and organizations, faculty and adjunct professors, directors of programs, senior level administration, student affairs, admissions officers, and more.
Doctor of Ministry in Prophetic Leadership (DMin)
The Doctor of Ministry in Prophetic Leadership is designed for leaders with extensive experiences in various contexts who want to further refine their competencies and intersectional leadership skills in the contexts of culturally diverse congregations, organizations, and communities. These leaders will engage in ethical, substantive, and culturally relevant research processes to develop theoretical knowledge, analytical skills, and contextual awareness that advances their leadership and vision for a just world.

Iliff Initiatives Lab centers the user in a creative design process to create transformative learning experiences and innovative products that empower new communities with Iliff’s mission of compassion and justice.
